Summer Story: Say Cheers

Hey lovelies!

It's almost been a month since my last post. Summer has been speeding away fast than I imagined! My Fourth of July was spent eating, swimming, and talking to friends. I've been spending my summer days alternating between going out with friends, relaxing with a book, or traveling to random places. For the most part, my days have been unplanned. When the day comes, I spontaneously make trips with friends and that's how my day happens. It's been going great so here are random pictures.

That's right! I went to BeautyCon LA this year. I won a free ticket because I entered a contest and actually won (I usually never win stuff)! I went alone and was able to meet so many nice people. I had an amazing time! I was also able to spot some of my favorite youtubers and got to meet Meghan Rienks, Maddi Bragg, Dulce Candy, and Nikki Phillippi. Thank you BeautyConLA.

I hope that wherever you are, that you're enjoying the season you're in. I'm so grateful for this summer season to have some time off for myself. I didn't know I needed the break until I finally let myself have it. Have a wonderful rest of your week.

Cherish your solitude. Take trains by yourself to places you have never been. Sleep out alone under the stars. Learn how to drive a stick shift. Go so far away that you stop being afraid of not coming back. Say no when you don’t want to do something. Say yes if your instincts are strong, even if everyone around you disagrees. Decide whether you want to be liked or admired. Decide if fitting in is more important than finding out what you’re doing here. Believe in kissing.”

Summer Story: Welcome Summer 2015

Hi beautiful people!

Summer is here, the weather in LA has officially hit over 80°, and I am able to meet up with my close friends and family. WHOOOOO!

On Tuesday, June 23, 2015, I hosted my Welcome Summer Bonfire. It's #1 on my Summer Bucket List and it feels so good to cross it out on my written list. I woke up feeling really tired because the previous night I came home late from Six Flags. However, my alarm rang and my mood lifted knowing I was going to see my friends and hangout with them as we welcome summer 2015.

I grabbed my bathing suit and got ready for the day. I picked up my friend Jenilee, Amber, and Ashley. Then we made our way to pick up some bonfire essentials. We ended up making so man pit stops because we kept forgetting stuff to buy stuff. So here's a quick list of things to start you off when buying stuff for a bonfire:

Bonfire Essentials
     - Sun Block
     - Snacks: Chips, Donuts, Pizza (because you can eat them hot or cold)
     - Drinks: Water, Ginger ale, Soda, Juice, Etc.
     - S'mores (DUH!!): Graham crackers, Marshmallows, Hershey's Chocolate (or any other brand)
     - Fire Stuff: Wood, Fire Starters, Lighter Fluid, Matches/lighter
     - Good Music Playlist & Speaker

Normally, I have/attend bonfires at Dockweiler beach because it's the beach with fire pits that is closest to my house. However, this time I hosted the bonfire at Bolsa Chica State Beach because I wanted to try some place different, and the drive was so worth it!

This bonfire allowed me to see one of my favorite people, Eunice. She's the girl in the photo sitting on the lifeguard's tower. The last time I saw her was at a New Year's party, and I haven't had the chance to hang out with her. The bonfire allowed us to spend time together. We got to talk, catch up, and hangout. It's nice to see friends /i don't get to see often. Just a reminder to be thankful for the people in my life.

It was such a fun day! Being able to welcome summer 2015 with my friends and having a blast chilling at the beach made for a great day. I don't get to go to the beach often throughout the year because of classes, but summer allows me to get my fill. It's makes me happy to hang out at the beach again. It's a calming feeling to lay under the sun, listen to the sound of the waves as they hit the sand, and relax. It feels nice to be sun kissed and feel the sand between my toes.

When the sun began to set, it got chilly really quickly. My friends and I started wearing our sweaters and kept the fire burning. We sat around the fire singing songs and making s'mores. What other way to end a bonfire? Cheers everyone. Here's to an amazing summer.

"Summer, after all, is a time when wonderful things can happen to people. For those few months you’re not required to be who everyone thinks you are. The fresh cut grass smell in the air & the chance to dive into the deep end of a pool, gives you courage you didn’t think you had. Summer just opens the door and lets you free."

Summer Story: Waiting and Screaming

Hi!!

HAPPY SUMMER 2015 EVERYONE!

As you read on the title, I've decided that my summer series is going to be called, "Summer Story." Every summer has a story and this will be my way of sharing my stories of Summer 2015. This series will include all I wrote about in my Summer 2015 Bucket List post (read it here) and more. I'm excited! Hope you are too.

These past few days have been incredible. On Thursday, I met up with some of my good friends to have brunch and hangout. We ended up trying to cafes and dessert places. We walked around a lot so I ended up getting one of my favorite things to drink- Pressed Juicery.

Summer 2015 Bucket List

Hi hi!

On Tuesday, I had a girls day with my friend, Heidi. She's one of my first friends since entering university. We decided to grab lunch and do a little bit of shopping. It was nice being able to talk, hang out, catch up, and shop. Afterwards, I made my way to one of my favorite coffee shops by my house and decided to journal for a bit. I forgot my earphones at home, and not having my earphones with me made my regular visit such a different experience! I was surrounded with people conversing, reading, and listening to music. I had nothing to focus on other than the words I was writing in my journal. That being said, I was able to write about what the next part is going to be about. (:

I want to start the next part of this post by explaining what has been happening the last couple of months: I've spent the last six months, applying for internships in New York. I've also been contacting people on Craigslist to sublet their rooms. However, after six months of applications and emails, turns out that I'm not going after all. I'll admit, I'm quite upset about my change of plans. I put in a lot of time and effort in my applications and looking for rooms to sublet.  Since I'll be staying in L.A., I'm going to be applying for internships around the area instead. However, because It didn't work out the way I hoped it to, I now have three months of no classes and quite a lot of time on my hands.

When I realized that I won't be spending my three-month summer vacation in New York like I thought I would, I wanted to do something that I can post about, at the same time, make my summer fun. I've taken the time to think of activities I want to accomplish this summer and began making a list. As I was writing down the things I wanted to do, it hit me.  I'm going to make a Summer 2015 Bucket List. Here it is:

This bucket list began as a small idea because I wanted to start a summer series here on my blog. I wanted my summer series to centralize my blog posts for the duration of summer around summer activities, while also incorporating fashion and music into the posts. This summer series will allow me to write about my summer. Some things on the lists are things I've always done over the summer, but this list also includes new activities for me to do/try. This list is not definite, nor is it close to being complete. I've shared my thoughts to a few people and some of my friends have helped me add things onto the list. If you have any ideas, please let me know!

Lastly, I want to give a BIG shoutout to my best friend!! She's currently in Vegas so I can't say this to her in person… HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANCY! I've known her since we were in the seventh grade. We had leadership class together and we've been friends ever since. She's one of the most generous, selfless, and loving people I know. And today, she turns 21!! WHOOOO!

I'm still not 100% sure about how I'm going to write these posts or what I'm going to call the series. I'm still trying to process my idea but that's what I have so far. Today, I wanted to write share my idea with you all since the first official day of summer is this weekend. What are you doing for the first day of summer/Father's Day? I'm going to be doing something this weekend so I'll probably won't be able to publish another post until Monday. Have a great weekend!

You're So Real

Hi you!

So… things happened unexpectedly yesterday.

When I mentioned on Monday's post (if you haven't seen it, read it here) about "something exciting" happening today, I originally planned to go to Six Flags with my brother and cousins. It was my first day of summer vacation, and I was excited to go to a theme park. What better way to start my summer vacation?

I started my day at 6:30 am. I woke up, showered, and got dressed. The plan was for my brother and I to go to my dad's work, where we will be meeting up with my cousins. It was 8 am when my dad, brother, and I arrived at my dad's workplace. Since we initially planned to meet with my cousins at 9:30 am, we had an hour and a half to kill. My brother and I went to Starbucks to get our caffeine fix, well at least I did.

However, when the time to meet came around, my cousin called explaining that his sister (my older cousin) was in labor. She had her baby shower on Sunday, and then she went into labor. We were just talking about when Peter James was going to be born like two days ago… and then BAM. It happened.

So instead of making our way to Six Flags… we made our way to a hospital. We met up with my cousin, Faith, and her husband. She had her private room so that was really cool to see.

When it was time for her to give birth, we went to the waiting room. Honestly, that was my first time experiencing being in that situation. I'm not really comfortable with hospitals and babies.

When we were allowed to enter the room, we finally got to meet him! I was also told to hold/carry him. One problem… I'm REALLY uncomfortable with holding babies. It's scary to me and I start overthinking about everything! I did however, hold him for a while until he started getting fussy. Then I gave him to someone else.

Meet Peter James. Isn't he adorable???
Afterwards, my cousin and his girlfriend, along with my brother and I decided to watch a movie at the theatre. When we checked for the local listing times, the next showing was at 6 pm. We had two hours to kill. We ended up going to a Walmart and buying brownie mix to bake, and ingredients to make ice cream (my cousin wanted to use his newly purchased blender). Once the two hours passed, we went to the cinema and saw Jurrasic World. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.

When we got out of the theatre we decided to call it a night. We made our way home and since I have something happening Tuesday, I wanted to get some rest.

Have a great day!

Back to You, World

Hi!

This past weekend was a busy one for me. Since it was graduation weekend for my university, my social media feed were filled with posts about graduation. My friends graduated yesterday! However, this past weekend a schedule full of activities to do, that was not school related. It feels so good to be able to not worry about finishing a project or writing a paper.

After my final on Thursday, I came home and chilled for a while. My grandma was at our house so I talked to her for a bit. Then, I headed to the mall because I needed to do some retail therapy (summer haul coming soon *wink wink*). Considering that I avoided my phone the whole time and walked around so much that my feet had blisters when I came home… I can say, I definitely did some damage. Both to my feet and my wallet. I didn't really considering heels problem but since it was my second time wearing heels in a row, my feet were crying.

I'm the type of person who doesn't really like to shop unless I want to shop or need to buy something. Then, I can spend countless hours shopping. Falling for instant gratification is so bad, yet so good. But since I needed to buy a dress for an event, it took me a while to find which dress I wanted to wear/felt comfortable in/felt confident wearing. The ladies at the store were a real help.

On Friday, my honor society- Lambda Pi Eta- had its end-of-the-year banquet. I got inducted since I joined this past year. I was surrounded with my amazing friends and good food. I was able to talk to some of my professors outside of the classroom/university environment. It's funny thinking about it because the power dynamic was still there- they all had PhD's and I referred to them as "Dr."- but it was really relaxed. It was an incredible night.

These are only a few of the many pictures I have from that night. Shout out to my friend, Nico A, for two of the photos above! I'm so thankful for the opportunity to be able to meet these people, work with them, and be experience college with them. They've inspired me to do well in my classes and work hard to the best of my abilities so I can graduate soon. I can't wait to walk the stage next year.

On Saturday, I stayed home working on videos all day. I had responsibilities to edit a couple of videos so I decided to use Saturday to rest and edit the videos. I didn't really do much except face my laptop and work with Final Cut. Plus, my Final Cut Pro was being slow and frustrating so it took me longer than I expected to finish the edits on the video.

Sunday, I went to my cousin's baby shower. My cousin's friend did a really nice job setting up and decorating. Everything looked so delicate and pretty! We played some games… Anyone remember all the children's names in the Brady Brunch and the Cosby Show? I couldn't. But I did win one game! It simply required me to open my party favor and look inside. Surprise! There was a baby toy. I'll take a free Starbucks gift card any day.

She saw my cousin and I taking pictures and wanted to join. This was her pose.

As we were leaving my cousin, Abigail, decided to spring up some news to my parents. Turns out I'm doing something exciting tomorrow! (I'm writing this Sunday, but it'll be published Monday/today). I spent the rest of the night running some errands with my family and chilling at home.

That's it for today! I said in my last blog post that there will be exciting news coming soon. I can't wait to write about it and put it in action. Whoooo!

Till next time…
