Misguided Moods and Funky Feelings

12:30 PM Unknown 0 Comments

Hi all!

The weather here in LA has been all kinds of weird the past few weeks. I've decided that for today's post I want to share some of the music from the new playlist I've been putting together. If you're like me, I can't listen to just one type of music. Depending on my mood/feelings, I change my taste on music just as fast. However, since the weather has been all funny, going from cloudy/gloomy in the morning to sunny in the afternoon, I can't match my mood to the songs I've been listening to.

You can find the playlist on my Spotify page (@miramaje), or you can click here: Sun Rays & Thick Clouds.

The following are some of the songs from my playlist:
  • Walk Away - by LANY

  • Jealous - by Kehlani

  • Fineshrine - by Purity Ring

  • Waiting Game - by Banks

  • Worry - by Jack Garret

The songs in this playlist are just a bunch of songs I've been listening to the last few weeks / music I've recently discovered and liked. What are your favorite songs/type of music? I like knowing what types of music other people listen to because it can also help me to discover any new songs.

I know it's finals/graduation week for many schools/colleges/universities. If you still have classes or are in your finals week… keep going and study hard because YOU CAN DO IT!  If you are graduating/have graduated then CONGRATULATION, YOU DID IT!

I still have a few weeks left before officially starting my summer vacation. Last weekend was full of activities (you can read about my Memorial Day weekend here: "We Hopped to the Moon"). But being an introvert/homebody, a weekend full activities wipes me out and gets me really exhausted. I've been sleeping at 10 pm this past week trying to recuperate from last weekend. I'm trying to strive forward.  Summer is almost here folks! I'm excited!

I hope that your week is going well. If it's not, keep your head up. It'll get better. No matter what's happening in your life, don't give up. Because you got this. You can do it. Thing's will get better.

“Anyone can give up; it is the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone would expect you to fall apart, now that is true strength."

We Hopped to the Moon

Hey everybody!

Happy Memorial Day! If you don't celebrate Memorial Day, then Happy Monday!

This past weekend has been jam packed with activities. On Friday, my plans got cancelled so I ended up staying in and doing homework.

It was a good thing I had time to do my homework Friday night because the rest of the weekend, I was barely home.

Saturday, I ended up waking up a little past noon. I made plans with some of my high school friends so I only had time to eat breakfast before having to get ready.

Saturday night, I went to a party. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against parties… but as a homebody/introvert, it's  difficult for me to persuade myself to attend a party. But I did. I ended up going. And guess what? I LOVED IT! I had tons of fun, and although I was totally out of my comfort zone…I had a good time.

Sunday, I got to surround myself with my family. It's my nephew's birthday today, but yesterday was his birthday party. It was Ninja Turtles themed. How cute!? This was the only photo I got with him..

Oh and I got to see one of my favorite people, my cousin, Abigail.

And of course, I couldn't help taking an OOTD photo.
shirt & socks: Forever 21
skirt: from my godmother
shoes: Dansko
purse: Coach
On my way home, the sun looked so pretty! Look at it!? Isn't this world just full of beauty? Take the chance to notice it every now and then.

Although this weekend was totally unexpected, I'm so grateful for all that has happened this past weekend. I got to surround myself with family, old friends, and new friends. This weekend has made me so much more thankful for all that I have and all the people in my life. Things occur unexpectedly but it's up to us to handle it the way we see fit. Most of us tend to forget how precious life is so make sure to realize all that you've got and thank everyone you care about before it's too late.

I'm so thankful for all of you that read my posts. My blog allows me to reflect and write about my life. But you take the time to read them. Thank you for supporting me and reading my posts. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

I hope each and every single one of you have a great day and an amazing week.

Words and Flowers

Afternoon darlings!

These past few days have been like a roller coaster ride! This week is our eighth week of Spring Quarter 2015. Seriously, three weeks of classes left, and then finals. Then, I'll be officially done with my junior year of university! All my friends are talking about graduation (since most of my COMM friends are graduating). I'm excited for them. But I'm also sad that I won't be able to experience my senior year as a college student with them. BOOOOO!!

Last weekend, I did absolutely nothing. I stayed home for most of the weekend. I spent my nights playing with makeup and posting awkward videos on snapchat. I ended up saving all of them onto my phone. HA! On Sunday, I had the opportunity to hang out with one of my mentee (a little sister I never had #2). We went to Lemonade and got out faves- mac n cheese and lemonade. It was nice to spend some time hanging out with her and talking.

This is such a basic picture but I live in LA, and trust me, looking at palm trees never gets old. Monday evening, I had dinner with my coworkers at a ramen restaurant at Ventura. It was delicious! If you like ramen and live around North Hollywood, make sure you try out Tamashi.

Today, I stayed home because I don't have a lab for my biology class. I also ended up waking up very late… I decided not to work out because my ankles and arms are really sore from my Monday workout. I think I might've over-worked my muscles so I don't wanna push myself too hard. I hope to get back on my schedule on Friday though.

When I woke up, I was too lazy to get up right away so I spent time on my bed listening to music, reading, and writing in my journal. It's always nice to have time by myself, I like having time to write my thoughts and feelings out onto my journal. When I did walk out onto the living room, I noticed that the flowers my dad got my mom for Mother's Day are dried out. But they still look really pretty.

My cousin and her children are here. It's always fun to be surrounded with them. Kids always have a ball of energy I now wish I had. Time to spend time with these amazing people. Have a lovely rest of your day!

A Little Too Much

11:19 AM Unknown 0 Comments

Hey loves!

Yesterday was unexpectedly a good day. I woke up feeling really exhausted. I didn't feel like going to school but I had to push forward. After showering, I realized that it was supposed to rain. I hate wearing jeans when it's raining… I don't like the feeling against my skin, especially if it gets wet. It took me a while to get dressed because I didn't feel like putting anything on except for sweats. After covering my bed with clothes I tried on but didn't want to wear, I finally felt comfortable in my outfit.

Honestly, I put this outfit together without even thinking about it. I was running out of time and needed to leave the house. When I did get to school, I realized my first class was "cancelled" because we were assigned to go to an event happening on campus. Obviously, I totally forgot…. I got to school at 10 am and my next class wasn't until 1 pm.

I met up with my friend Misty and we ended up having a mini photoshoot.
Trying to take pictures on campus while students are walking around? Talk about awkward.

As I'm writing this… I just realized that almost everything I wore yesterday was given to me from my mom's friends. HA! My shirt, jacket, and skirt are from my mom's friends. That's not even a joke. My tights I picked up from Daiso when I was there and decided to give them a try, and my boots are Doc Martens.

As Misty was leaving for class, she gave me cookie dough candy. When I met up with some of my friends, I brought it out to share it with them. Bridget, Megan, and I shared out love for cookie dough.  It's delicious! But then… Bridget, Kyle, and I ended up going to Bristol Farms to buy actual cookie dough.

When we got back on campus it was raining and I didn't have an umbrella. Arriving late to class wet and smelling like rain? Totally fashionable.

After my classes, I ended up going to a birthday celebration. There was a taco man. What could be better than tacos? When I got home, my brother and his friends decided to spend the night over and watch a movie. I wanted to watch the movie with them but guess what? Your girl fell asleep. That was my Thursday.

Thanks for reading!

Clouds in the Sky and It Smells Like Rain

11:38 AM Unknown 0 Comments

Hi hi!

This has been overdue for some days now but I finally have the time to write.  I said I would post something last week, but I underestimated the amount of work I had to do for my classes. However, now I have a lot more time to write. With that said, here's a few things about last week:

I know this is such a cliche and lame beginning, but last week's weather was much colder than I expected. Since I do live in L.A. its expected, but the whole week it was around 60 degrees-  in the middle of spring. Like, what? However, the sky was absolutely stunning when the sun broke through. I wish I could have taken a better picture, but the best view was driving home on the 101. When I exited the freeway, I finally couldn't take it anymore and pulled over to take this picture.

On Thursday, I had a Quantitative Research midterm exam. I was so nervous to take the test. I knew the material but I wasn't confident. However, whenever I have big exam (midterm/final), one of my favorite reminders is, "If you know the material, you know the material. If you don't, well too bad." Haha. I know… it's a big sad. But it is true. If you don't know something on the test, there's nothing you can do.

Some of my friends and I ended up spontaneously meeting up before our test. We quizzed each other on our notes and clarified any questions we had on the material. I actually have never studied in a group before, so it was nice to experience it was some of my COMM major friends. (:

Also, here's a little advice that one of my friends and I use to make ourselves feel better when taking a test: wear an outfit that makes you feel good. If you know you're not going to well or need something to boost your mood- put on something that makes you feel confident.

Oh, and did I mention I started running again? I love running and I finally have some time in the morning to squeeze a few miles in.

It's nice to finally go running again. Before, I always ran in the evening after I got home but recently, I started running in the morning. And you know what? It's so nice! My neighborhood is always quiet so it's comforting to run all by myself and get some alone time with nothing but nature to surround me.

Once I finish running, I make myself breakfast.

I've had the same breakfast for the past week- toast with avocados (sometimes with spinach) and egg, and some type of fruit. It's delicious and healthy.

Funny how working out again and eating much more healthy has made me feel good not only about myself, but also how I view my day. If you haven't been feeling all that good, change something about your daily routine to make you feel better.

Yesterday was Mother's Day! I ran early in the morning and then got ready for service. Afterwards, my family ended up staying home in the afternoon since we were all pretty exhausted. For dinner we decided to go out. I finally had the opportunity to take my family to one of my favorite places to eat- Lemonade. I got my regular (the kale salad and truffled mac) and decided to try the seared Ahi Tuna.

Since it was a bit early, my family and I decided to go to the Grove. We ended up watching Avengers: Age of Ultron. If you haven't seen it, I recommend it. Once we got out of the theatre, my family was pretty much tired. It was near midnight anyway so we went home. It was nice to spend some quality time with my family since it doesn't happen very often.

I hope you all a good day with your mother/father. If you didn't have the time or wasn't able to spend the day with your mom/dad, remember to appreciate them and tell them you love them while they are still here. Because sooner or later, when we're much older, they won't always be present.

I hope you all have an amazing week.
