Between Two States
Hey everyone!First and foremost I want to give a BIG apology for how late this post is being posted. I know I've missed like a week's worth of blogging and I can't even express how sorry I am for the delay! So here's the long awaited update post!
My mom's friend's birthday is on Friday, October 18, and she had planned for a trip with her husband to go on a mini vacation and decided to take my family along. I've known since the beginning of the year that we were going away for a while but I what I hadn't factored in was how busy I was going to get. I was driving around the city because of tasks I needed to do for my job and lunch dates I had to attend during my days off, but I also had responsibilities that needed to be done for school. I didn't picture my month to be so busy and productive! Anyways, throughout the week, I made sure that my homework and projects for school was completed before going on the trip. However, I ended up bringing some school stuff because I had a test to make up the next day we came back. So for the trip my mom's friend and husband along with my family went on a road trip to Lake Tahoe!!! I was so excited because I had never been there before. Let me describe my journey to you!
On Friday, October 18th, my dad and I went to the car rental place at 2 pm to pick up the car we had rented for the trip. We started loading up the van and we left my house around 4pm. On the road we go! I lasted about three hours on the drive then fell asleep. I was super tired from the week that I spent most of the drive asleep. However, I do remember how traffic getting out of the city was and just listened to music and read my book. When I awoke we were at a gas station and still had two hours worth of driving until we reached our hotel. After using the restroom, I found out we were already in Nevada! Once we all got back in the car, I started reading my book again and when we were nearing our destination I finished my book. I will be posting a review on my READS page about the book I read so make sure you come back to check that post! Back to my story, we reached the hotel around one in the morning and it was colder than I had expected and I loved it. We stayed in a hotel near Zephyr Cove that was in Nevada.
After unpacking and getting settled I filmed a hotel room tour and some updating then got ready for bed. The next morning we ate breakfast and got ready then all packed ourselves back in the van to do some more driving. The first place we visited was Zephyr Cove which included a mini cruise for people to go on and boat rentals.
Then we got back on the road again to go to a different city. Here's a view of a place we made a random stop at:
It was cold at the place we had stopped so after a few minutes of taking pictures and looking at the view we went back to driving. My seat partner throughout the whole trip was my little brother, and after a few wasted lives on Candy Crush, and few tries on Slam Dunk we got bored and took the time to take a few selfies. Here's a blurry one for you:
After another thirty minutes of driving we arrived at our destination. Here's the view:
This place was really interesting because the roads were really small and on both sides of the road were cabins and my family didn't want to drive all the way around so it was difficult trying to find parking but it was worth it. After our stop we decided to go to North Lake Tahoe which was an hour and a half drive from where we were so on the road we go!
The place we arrived at was incredibly beautiful! We were going to do an activity but the place was closed for the season so we just made our drive worth it but walking around. We were at Tahoe City, and let me just say that the city was like out of film. Everything around me was like the perfect view- yellow, orange, green, and brown! With the cold weather and sun shining down, I felt like I was really experiencing the season of "Fall." We walked around a country club and walked out on the docks and the view of the lake was breathtaking. By this time of the day, my camera decided to die and I could only take pictures with my phone camera so the quality doesn't do the place justice but look:
After taking a stroll down the city that I imagined would be a perfect place to spend lazy days in the summer, my dad and I found this brewing/pub-ish cafe where we decided to have a late lunch/snack time. We got seated in the middle of the place and were surrounded by four T.Vs, three of which were playing football games and one viewed the news. I tried their Clam Chowder and Caesar salad, which were both absolutely delicious!
The Clam Chowder had a different taste to it than compared to others I've tried and I loved it! After eating our food, we decided to head back to our hotel. Once again, I fell asleep on the trip back! Once we got back to the hotel my dad, brothers, and I went for a Starbucks run and rented a couple of movies.Dinner time was nice; our meal: grilled salmon and chicken with salad and french bread. YUMMM. Once we all got cleaned up, everyone went to the living room to watch one of the movies we had rented but I decided to spend my down time studying for my Geology test. Two hours later... I went to bed.
The next morning, after we got ready for the day we went back to Zephyr Cove. My parents braved it out and tried Pedal Boating. It was so much fun and the water was so clear you could see the bottom of the lake. We rented two boats which fitted four people on each boat and I road with my brothers. Once we were far enough from the beach and my parents we gave it a break and chilled...
After an hour of pedaling, we went to the downtown part of the city to do some window shopping. It was a beautiful place and we spend most of our day walking and checking out the stores. Here's what I ended up purchasing.
Once we got back to the hotel, everyone else watched the other movie or helped made dinner while I took a nap. Then my mom woke me up for dinner- our meal: grilled shrimp and pork. When we finished eating dinner, I spent my down time being a good student and studied for my test again. After fitting another two hour study session, I packed up all my stuff. We left our hotel at 6 am the next morning. After the eight hour back of a drive from Lake Tahoe to L.A. we made it home safely!
It was such a beautiful place to visit and I really want to go back during the summer. It was really cool to experience driving back and forth California and Nevada several times and count the times we spent crossing the state lines. The trip was so much fun and I loved it! I hope you had fun reading about my mini getaway as much as I had remembering and writing about it.
'Till my next post,
xoxo -Mira
