A Little Too Much

Hey loves!

Yesterday was unexpectedly a good day. I woke up feeling really exhausted. I didn't feel like going to school but I had to push forward. After showering, I realized that it was supposed to rain. I hate wearing jeans when it's raining… I don't like the feeling against my skin, especially if it gets wet. It took me a while to get dressed because I didn't feel like putting anything on except for sweats. After covering my bed with clothes I tried on but didn't want to wear, I finally felt comfortable in my outfit.

Honestly, I put this outfit together without even thinking about it. I was running out of time and needed to leave the house. When I did get to school, I realized my first class was "cancelled" because we were assigned to go to an event happening on campus. Obviously, I totally forgot…. I got to school at 10 am and my next class wasn't until 1 pm.

I met up with my friend Misty and we ended up having a mini photoshoot.
Trying to take pictures on campus while students are walking around? Talk about awkward.

As I'm writing this… I just realized that almost everything I wore yesterday was given to me from my mom's friends. HA! My shirt, jacket, and skirt are from my mom's friends. That's not even a joke. My tights I picked up from Daiso when I was there and decided to give them a try, and my boots are Doc Martens.

As Misty was leaving for class, she gave me cookie dough candy. When I met up with some of my friends, I brought it out to share it with them. Bridget, Megan, and I shared out love for cookie dough.  It's delicious! But then… Bridget, Kyle, and I ended up going to Bristol Farms to buy actual cookie dough.

When we got back on campus it was raining and I didn't have an umbrella. Arriving late to class wet and smelling like rain? Totally fashionable.

After my classes, I ended up going to a birthday celebration. There was a taco man. What could be better than tacos? When I got home, my brother and his friends decided to spend the night over and watch a movie. I wanted to watch the movie with them but guess what? Your girl fell asleep. That was my Thursday.

Thanks for reading!

Clouds in the Sky and It Smells Like Rain

Hi hi!

This has been overdue for some days now but I finally have the time to write.  I said I would post something last week, but I underestimated the amount of work I had to do for my classes. However, now I have a lot more time to write. With that said, here's a few things about last week:

I know this is such a cliche and lame beginning, but last week's weather was much colder than I expected. Since I do live in L.A. its expected, but the whole week it was around 60 degrees-  in the middle of spring. Like, what? However, the sky was absolutely stunning when the sun broke through. I wish I could have taken a better picture, but the best view was driving home on the 101. When I exited the freeway, I finally couldn't take it anymore and pulled over to take this picture.

On Thursday, I had a Quantitative Research midterm exam. I was so nervous to take the test. I knew the material but I wasn't confident. However, whenever I have big exam (midterm/final), one of my favorite reminders is, "If you know the material, you know the material. If you don't, well too bad." Haha. I know… it's a big sad. But it is true. If you don't know something on the test, there's nothing you can do.

Some of my friends and I ended up spontaneously meeting up before our test. We quizzed each other on our notes and clarified any questions we had on the material. I actually have never studied in a group before, so it was nice to experience it was some of my COMM major friends. (:

Also, here's a little advice that one of my friends and I use to make ourselves feel better when taking a test: wear an outfit that makes you feel good. If you know you're not going to well or need something to boost your mood- put on something that makes you feel confident.

Oh, and did I mention I started running again? I love running and I finally have some time in the morning to squeeze a few miles in.

It's nice to finally go running again. Before, I always ran in the evening after I got home but recently, I started running in the morning. And you know what? It's so nice! My neighborhood is always quiet so it's comforting to run all by myself and get some alone time with nothing but nature to surround me.

Once I finish running, I make myself breakfast.

I've had the same breakfast for the past week- toast with avocados (sometimes with spinach) and egg, and some type of fruit. It's delicious and healthy.

Funny how working out again and eating much more healthy has made me feel good not only about myself, but also how I view my day. If you haven't been feeling all that good, change something about your daily routine to make you feel better.

Yesterday was Mother's Day! I ran early in the morning and then got ready for service. Afterwards, my family ended up staying home in the afternoon since we were all pretty exhausted. For dinner we decided to go out. I finally had the opportunity to take my family to one of my favorite places to eat- Lemonade. I got my regular (the kale salad and truffled mac) and decided to try the seared Ahi Tuna.
Shirt: Charlotte Russe
Skirt: H&M
Slippers: Charlotte Russe
Necklace: Forever 21

Since it was a bit early, my family and I decided to go to the Grove. We ended up watching Avengers: Age of Ultron. If you haven't seen it, I recommend it. Once we got out of the theatre, my family was pretty much tired. It was near midnight anyway so we went home. It was nice to spend some quality time with my family since it doesn't happen very often.

I hope you all a good day with your mother/father. If you didn't have the time or wasn't able to spend the day with your mom/dad, remember to appreciate them and tell them you love them while they are still here. Because sooner or later, when we're much older, they won't always be present.

I hope you all have an amazing week.

BE-a-YOU-tiful Days

Hey everyone!

On Sunday, I woke up and felt really good. Felt good about myself and felt good about my day. I've started working out and eating healthy again, and I think that making small changes in my daily routine have affected my outlook on my days and on myself positively. I went to service and decided to dress myself up. I liked my outfit and afterwards, I got home and thought to myself, "You look nice why waste a good outfit?" I hit up my friend and we decided to hang out.

We grabbed lunch at a diner, walked around the neighborhood, and we talked (a lot). We spent a lot of our time talking and hitting up the cool stores around the neighborhood. I wasn't really focusing on taking photos but I did remember to take some pictures for my Snapchat story.

After grabbing lunch, we hit up this cool record story and they had a variety of records. We spent time looking through old records and new ones (I did find interesting stuff and wrote down some artists I'm going to listen to when I want to listen to new music). Down the block we saw this really cute and chic garden, and at the back was a spice store. Everything had this chic atmosphere surrounding the store. Not to mention that the placed smelled so sweet and spicy!

It got hot walking around and my friend wanted something cold so we decided to grab gelato at the local store. I got my favorite (Mint Chip) and decided to try the Mascarpone and Cinnamon with Basil. The Mascarpone and Cinnamon with Basil sounded interesting when I saw the label but decided to get it because it had my favorite- cinnamon. When I tried it, it was delicious!!

I am aware how bad my photos look but it was taken rather quickly and I wasn't really focused on taking "good" photos since it was only for my Snapchat. I apologize!!

As we began finishing our gelato,  a lot of families were entering the store and the place began to get really crowded. We threw away our trash and began to start up our walk again. We resumed hitting up the stories and entering the small boutiques spread out throughout the neighborhood. A lot of the small boutiques sold really unique style and vintage clothes.

After a couple of hours walking, talking, and looking at random knick knacks we got tired and decided something to drink. One of favorite places to grab coffee or tea was right around the corner so we walked towards the coffee shop. He got a coffee and I got iced tea. The flavor that I wanted ran out so the barista gave me another tea drink. It was just as delicious as my favorite one. However, the barista felt bad that my order was changed so he gave it to me free of charge. He was so sweet!!

We grabbed a table outside and as I sat down drinking my tea, I thought to myself, "This is beautiful."  The outside was surrounded with flowers and plants, the sun was shining down at us, and I had a delicious drink. I wish I took some more pictures because the time of the day was just beautiful. I love moments that feels so right. You have nature and a good drink- take a look around you and notice the beautiful things.

As we walked towards my car, I decided last minute that I wanted an outfit of the day (OOTD) photo.
My friend has  never had to take an OOTD pic before so I had to teach him the basics about lighting, focusing, and timing. It took a while but he was able to get some pictures.

Here's my OOTD:

When I got home, I looked at some of the photos and was extremely proud of my friend. They turned out well (I think). Then I went on my tumblr and decided to scroll through my feed. Then saw this quote: “Respect your uniqueness and drop comparison. Relax into your being.”

As I read the quote, it hit me. The importance of being comfortable and confident with oneself. It's so important for everyone to feel good about themselves and shouldn't have to rely on anyone else calling you beautiful or handsome. You should know your worth.

I've recently began to feel more confident about myself. I'm beginning to like my skills and talents, and understanding that I can't do everything. You may be able to draw, sing, act, dance, play an instrument, and others can solve equations, create experiments, and understand physics. Truth is, everyone is individually and specially made. So it's okay if you can't do something someone else can do, because you have the ability to do something different. I believe that we're all here for a purpose. Be it to learn, create, spread, and inspire… we all have our own purpose. Why waste our time trying to be someone else?

I encourage you: be YOU. If you're trying to gain confidence, write down all the things you know you're good at and remember it. Write down what you can't do and something you wish you could do, then try it out. If you can't do it, the it's totally fine. At least you tried and did your best. If you're trying to feel good about your body, forget about what society says. We can't please everyone. Dress up or dress down, work out or don't work out, just be okay that you look different and unique because you're SUPPOSED TO LOOK DIFFERENT AND UNIQUE.  And if you don't feel confident today, then do something that makes you feel confident.

Remember: You're your own person. No one else can be you or do what you can do. Stop comparing yourself to others. Forget about what society and media says about "what you're supposed to look like." They're all false. You're supposed to look like you! Be the best possible version of yourself because no one can take you away from you.

Have a BEaYOUtiful day,

xoxo -Mira

Spring Break 2015

Hey Everyone!

I can't believe the first quarter of the year has come and gone. Today's blog is a little throwback of how I spent my spring break 2015. I ended up hanging out with my college friends the whole week (besides work day), and I had an amazing time. It's amazing how much fun you can have with the right people. Throughout the week, I vlogged (video blogged) as much as I could, as well as, take as much pictures. However, there are two days I loved the most: Monday and Wednesday.

On Monday, we ended up up going to Disneyland! I usually go at least once a year and this time I went with my friends. I had a blast riding the rides and experiencing Disneyland with my friends (since most of them have the pass and go every other week). Sadly, when I got home and looked through the footage I acquired throughout the day, I noticed I didn't have as much as I would like since I was too busy enjoying the day with my friends. I have a lot of photos before we started going around the park and towards the end of the day and not as much in between. Here's what I have:

On Wednesday, my friends and I decided to get away for a while and escaped to San Diego. I've blogged about my past San Diego trips before, and my college friends and I decided to see those places together. It was a lot of fun exploring SD with my friends and just being together was good enough. Also, that day, our grades came out and we all celebrated for passing our classes. Hurrah!

I also ended up making a vlog for that day. Check it out:

Spring break 2015 was so much fun. I ended up not doing anything big but I did have a great time spending my week off with my friends.  Let me know how you spent your spring break/are spending your spring break.

The first quarter of 2015 has passed. April is coming and going so quickly, I can barely wrap my head around it. I'm trying to make the most of each single day. I hope your 2015 is starting off well and if it's not, don't forget you have more day to come.

Goodbye 2014!

Happy Holidays everyone!

I can’t believe it’s done! AHHH! Is anybody else excited for this new upcoming year? I welcomed 2014 with no expectations because I didn’t have any plans for this year. However, looking back throughout this past year, I’m so thankful for all that has happened this year. Here’s 2014’s list of the 14 things that I’m thankful for that occurred throughout this year:

#14. Started my third year of college with my university friends

#13. Spent Spring Break ’14 away from the city with two of my best main girls.

#12. Became part of a group with good purpose

#11. Added another to the family — saw my cousin Angelo get married

#10. Had my blog’s first year anniversary/birthday! So proud of this page and thankful for all my readers.

#9. Got a job that I like - I’m able to pay for the things I want

#8. Made so many memories from all the travels I did throughout this year.

#7. Changing the way my family spends the holidays. It’s new and different but good.

#6. Flew up to Washington and seeing my extended family

#5. Purchased Mackenzie Jones - my MacBook

#4. My little brother graduated from being a Lion (middle school) to being a Barrister (high school)

#3. Reuniting with my high school best friends and realizing were all different but still somewhat the same. And that’s okay.

#2. Started a Fashion PR internship and helped me set direction in what career path I want to follow

#1. Left my teen years behind and turned 20!

This year was a year of growing. I’ve had the opportunity to learn more about life, my career, the people I surround myself with, and about myself throughout this year. Here’s what 14 thingsI’ve learned this year and I hope you remember some for 2015:

#1. Be open to other people’s perspectives. Let yourself learn.

#2. It’s okay to fail sometimes. But success is not from not making mistakes. Success comes from learning from failures and still choosing to work ahead.

#3. Life is about change. Accept the changes.

#4. It’s okay to lose yourself for a little while. Drink coffee. Read. Write. Listen to music. Drink tea. Draw. Paint. Let yourself get lost.

#5. Care less about what people say/think about you. People are going to judge but don’t think about them. Think about you.

#6. We all have a place in this world. I’m slowly learning that. It’s not always easy to remember but it’s true. So don’t give up.

#7. Travel. Fly in an airplane. Take a train. Drive a car. Ride a bus. Travel. It won’t be easy but it’ll be worth it. You’ll make memories. You’ll have fun. It’s the best investment you’ll make.

#8. Fight. Fight for the things you want. Fight for the people you love. Fight for the things that make you happiest. Fight for your dreams. Fight for you future. Fight for your present. Fight. And keep fighting.

#9. Introduce yourself. Let yourself meet all kinds of people. Make new friends.

#10. It’s okay to be fearful. Just don’t let your fear stop you from doing what you want to do. Let your fears give you the strength to be fear-less.

#11. Aim for more but expect less. Dream big but don’t let the trials and challenges set you back. Work hard to defeat them or learn from them.

#12. There’s a time for everything. Let the things that are suppose to happen…happen.

#13. Have people trying to put you down? Remember what they say and PROVE THEM WRONG.

#14. Follow your passions and follow your heart. If your passion and dreams make you happiest, it’s worth the hardships and challenges. It’ll all pay off. Take the leap of faith and chase your dreams.

I hope you all have a fun (and safe) New Year's Eve. Reflect all that has happened to you throughout this year and pick 14 things you've learned that has changed and shape you for 2015. Remember- a new year is an opportunity to start all over. Don't dwell on the "what it's." Instead, focus on the all that new possibilities 2015 has for you.

So say goodbye, au devoir, adiós to 2014 with me and let's welcome 2015 all together!

Mad Sounds In Your Ears, They Make You Feel Alright

Hey everyone!

To start off, I want to say I hope November is treating all of you very well. October was such a crazy month for me and my November calendar is already jam packed with homework, projects, and meetings. However, this month seems to promise good things.

I’m pretty sure I haven’t really explained why I’ve been so busy. Besides being a full-time student and part-time worker, I decided to start an internship in October. I currently intern at a press office and am surrounded by thousands of beautiful dresses, shirts, pants, skirts, shoes, and jewelry. Yes, I’m interning for a Fashion PR company. My manager is really fun to work with but she’s also teaching me a lot. I’m learning a lot about the fashion world and meeting all kinds of people who work all kinds of jobs.

Also, I’m part of a team trying to make changes for my church so that’s also adding more to my plate. Plus, I work with a non-profit organization that’s planning to do some events in the upcoming month. Anyways, I’ve got a lot to do, many places to be at, and a lot of people to keep in touch with. I’ve been driving all over L.A. doing what I’ve got to do but I’m not complaining about my busy schedule. In fact, I honestly love it.

I love being busy and having tasks to do. Although, I’m beyond exhausted, I prefer to be on a busy schedule rather than having nothing to do. However, keeping pace with such a hectic schedule, I need good music to keep me in motion. Which brings me to this: good music that is good company. There are two albums I’ve been constantly listening to:

1989 –Taylor Swift

AM – Arctic Monkeys

Now, I’m about to fan-girl for a moment but… Taylor Swift’s 1989 album… can I just express how amazing it is?! I don’t really listen to a lot of pop/radio music but Oh. My. GOSH. Taylor Swift is one (of few) exception to my music list. She’s brilliant. The album is incredible. Go listen to it, if you haven’t already. I usually end up listening to Blank Space, Style, How You Get the Girl, Clean, & I Wish You Would.

Artic Monkeys has always been a favorite of mine since my (ancient) middle school years when I was first introduced to them by my friend, Amy. But lately, I find myself continuously listening to their AM album. Besides the fact that they are a British boy-band (that’s a very good thing), their music is just good. That’s it. Where as Taylor’s 1989 is very pop and the album I listen to when driving, the AM album brings me the chill-vibe (if you know what I mean).  It’s the album I listen to when I’m resting and doing homework. The songs I continue to play on replay are: I Wanna Be Yours, R U Mine?, Do I Wanna Know?, & Mad Sounds.

I hope this month goes great for all of you. If you live in the U.S., it’s the month of thankfulness. And if you don’t celebrate Thanksgiving (and even if you do), I challenge you all to find a way to be appreciative of the little things that happen to you this month. Or even for the big things. Big thankful for all that happen and all that you have. I hope you the very best.
